Slow-Close Fallboard Adjustment

I pulled the brake cylinder and the end had oil leaking out. (yet 
another car analogy)

No wonder the fallboard was about down to the floor before the brake 
held.  I pumped
the fallboard up and down a few times and it didn't help :-)

Since there are no brake lines, it has to be the master cylinder. The 
drive train is functioning
splendidly, response well to ppp but are brake systems covered by a 
piano warranty?
