If I remember correctly this was the first of the redesigned KGs
which, up to the KG*D had been rather lifeless and uninteresting.
The E models followed shortly after the introduction of the GS-30
etc., the new professional range. The KG*E models are quite a
different piano from their predecessors, having a better metal frame
among other things. I believe they also switched from the Herrburger
1899 action to the Erard-Herz for this and subsequent models. The
KGs are not as good-toned as their contemporaries in the GS range,
not to speak of the RX-A (which is tremendous) and the
run-of-the-mill RX series that developed from it; but it was when
they brought in the Es that I recommenced stocking the KGs alongside
the GS, since the improvement was marked.
