Yes, assuming you have enough of your hearing left. :-) I use custom-fitted Westone plugs with ER inserts. Got them from an audiologist years ago. Well worth it. I use either the 9dB or the 15 dB inserts. I've forgotten which ones are which, but I think I currently have the 9db ones in the plugs. I haven't tried any of the generic fitting ones, but they should be much better than nothing. Test blows can produce peak levels of 100dB or a bit more. Ear protection is a must in our profession. As soon as I say that, I think of the guy in our chapter who never uses protection, is in his late seventies, and still hears well. He would be the exception, though.
