I used one when I started tuning pianos. I had to compensate for stretch as I went checking intervals. The Peterson doesn't listen to the piano and calculate stretch based on what is there. It simply has some stretch templates in memory you can access. If you depend on a Peterson you will not have a tuning that fits that piano. It can help keep you organized a bit but you will need aural skills if you are using a Peterson. Got a mint 490ST for sale if anyone wants one...
