steinway desk runner

You can call Steinway and find out but it's not difficult to make one out of
a piece of scrap mahogany or whatever. A few drops at a time of vinegar or
water/wallpaper remover solution along the remaining piece with a protective
strip of paper toweling or something placed below to keep anything from
running down the side of the case to the pinblock/soundboard/keybed will
eventually loosen the remnant so that you can remove it easily with a
chisel.

Subject: steinway desk runner

List, I have to replace a broken runner(wood) or desk support rail on a
Steinway grand. Can a new one be obtained from Steinway, and what would be
the best way to get the broken section out of the channel?

Chisel?

Thanks,

Rick Ucci/Ucci Piano
