Mystery part

The part is metal.  It fell into the keybed and bounced, so dont know where it came from exactly. Thanks for the ideas, I will inspect more closely now.  Dave

  Where on the keybed did you discover it?  What is the part made out of?  If it's metal of sorts, it might be what Dave said, the wedge between the plate and the bellyrail. But only if you can see what it attaches.

  It's a mystery to me, but hopefully not to you.  This part fell into the keybed of a Knabe grand piano while I was removing the plate and soundboard.  Now that I am replacing the plate, I do wonder where this goes?
