Back rail gunk, was Re: yamaha spinet

Not only did Yamaha use this gung for back rail cloth, I am about to do the same on a Kawai, here in Hawaii. Why????

Actually, I did tune a Yamaha spinet once, years ago. Only one I have ever seen. I also worked on a Yamaha console that had a sponge rubber rear key cushion instead of a felt one, which had turned to goo. What were they thinking!
