Dean gave us a demonstration at North Bennet Street.  I don't own one, but
it's on my wish list.  His primary advice was to relax the entire hand and
arm during use.

 

He said that since the bottom of the pin moves with almost every whack,
stability is easy to come by.

 

I darned near broke a string the first time I tried one; I was on the wrong
pin!  You're completely disconnected from the intimate, moment-by-moment pin
movement.

I bought Dean Rayburn's Impact Hammer.  He's The Rayburn Cybertuner person.
I like the solid feel and the adjustable features.
