  Subject: Lehr piano

  Dear List:

I am preparing to work on a Lehr piano. The only numbers I can find (and these are on the piano in several places) are 1396. In the piano atlas the serial numbers go from 18000 to 56000. There should be a serial number that matches the atlas somewhere. Does anyone have a clue as to where that might be?

For those who might run into this some time: While trying to get a look inside the piano I had trouble figuring out how to take it apart to get at the action. Finally I discovered that the moulding at the front/top of the piano over the key cover could be unscrewed from the forward part of the plate on the inside. That revealed the screws holding the key cover assembly, which uncovered the screw holding the cheek blocks. Knowing this might help keep someone else from wasting time searching for a way into the piano's insides.
