Dumb question from a non-bellyperson: why does this pinblock taper off in thickness at the ends? Is the string height larger in the middle?

What size bit would you recommend for this block for a 2 pin if someone like a very easily rendered pin?

Right off, I don't remember. I'm not one to make many notes, nor do I string enough pianos to remember. Ask Ron Nossaman - he strings 10 pianos for every one I do and uses the same type block. Regardless of what anyone else experiences, I always drill a set of test holes in locations where tuning pins will not be, pound in test pins and give 'em a try. That way there is no guessing. I use the two-step drill method like Ron N.

Or with a pneumatic press? Aye?

A pheumatic press for capping a pinblock? Oh geez, that so stupid Dale. How could you even conceive of such a ridiculous idea. That's the most outrageous idea I've ever heard of. How could it be done? Who would even try to do such a dumb thing? Geesh........

PS: For Sale - one HEAVY DUTY pneumatic pinblock/laminated-rib press - cheap!
