Patrick Backcheck wires are not threaded at the end, so they cannot be screwed out. The only way to get one out is to pull it out, or push it through. You might try to hammer it?through with a centerpunch, but you'll need to put the wippen on a solid surface, so as not to break the wood. Other than that, either drill a new hole, as has been suggested, or replace the whole wippen.
