Can you figure out what this does?

 Paul - Looks like your whippen is missing the drop screw, and the lever on the bottom helps support the rep lever on repetition, thus? acting somewhat as a drop screw.? Just my best guess.? Never seen one before.?? I assume the key has a corresponding second capstan?? Bob.

Below, and attached, is a picture of a whippen from a Chickering Bros (ugh) grand. It's the kind with a soft pedal mechanism that raises the hammer rest rail closer to the strings to reduce blow distance.
