This is a paraphrasing of an old story circulating around...

An engineer was on a cruise when a noise developed in the
propulsion system. Being a specialist they called on him.

He walked are the engine room and placed an ''X" on a shaft.
He asked for a hammer and whacked the pipe at the mark.
The noise stopped.

The Captain asked for an itemization of his $501.00 bill:
Hitting chalk mark with hammer $1.00
Knowing where to place the mark $500.00
