Binding hammers

Several answers come to mind. I have assumed this is an upright piano -- the same principles apply to a grand.
1) Check hammer shank travel, remove hammer butts where shanks are traveling at an angle, add tape to flange to correct travel.
2) Loosen hammer butt flange screw(s), space to strings.
3) If hammer is not 90 degrees to string plane (or parallel to its "true" neighbors), heat hammer shank to correct hammer angle.
