It can be done with a lath and a plumb-line or pendulum.  The thing I 
use is a bit more elaborate, but that's the principle.  The lath is 
of hardwood about 45mm wide, so it will fit on the top unison, and 
10mm thick and a foot or so long, cut perfectly square.  You have to 
park the piano on the level, of course!
