Garret, The audio is available on this website? ? http://tcfr33.com/sound/ductile.html? ? The piece wound up being nine minutes long so you will have to do some editing, but the composer says that you are free to use it. Cheers from here, Alan Eder ? -----Original Message----- From: Garret Traylor <hpp at highpointpiano.com> To: 'Pianotech List' <pianotech at ptg.org> Sent: Thu, 24 Jul 2008 3:03 pm Subject: RE: Breaking a String Alan, Would you happen to be able to get a copy say as a .wav file?? It might make a great ringtone or startup sound on the computer. Kindest Regards, Garret ? Here at the Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts, we had a student compose a piece a few years ago that involved breaking a string by tuning it it ever sharper until... recording the sound, which was then processed as part of a live laptop improvisation. ?The piano I designated for this was an old Baldwin F. ?If memory serves, we chose a note somewhere in the vicinity of C5 (though I don't recall exactly why). ?In the "rehearsal", we got it to go about a fourth sharp before the over-stressed wire gave up the ghost. ?How far sharp you can go depends on the percentage of the breaking point the wire is at "normal" pitch. ? YMMV. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: https://www.moypiano.com/ptg/pianotech.php/attachments/20080731/4784f816/attachment.html
