'S what I thought - I always use the powder and a hammer shank with a piece of felt wrapped around the tip. Nah - they're getting replaced because they're deformed and tres spongy. Thanks! I was just very curious as to whether or not this was an acceptable practice. I'll stick to the powder. -Holly Quigley ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "David Ilvedson" <ilvey at sbcglobal.net> To: pianotech at ptg.org Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2008 16:16:18 -0700 Subject: RE: TFL50 on knuckles? I wouldn't. Teflon powder is the norm. What condition are the knuckles? Has the spray made them hard? So I'm doing a knuckle replacement job, and I swear it looks like someone actually sprayed the knuckles with TFL50. There's a white film on the shanks and tops of the whippens that looks like it could only have been sprayed on. Teflon powder, I've heard of, yes - but using a spray? Is this a common or reasonable practice? Just curious... -Holly Quigley -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
