Wim, Michelle and all - Not that I have any doubt in the perverseness of humanity whatsoever, but I wouldn't be surprised at all in this case if perhaps the church personnel had found one of those little white baggies of desiccant that are often at the base of newer piano interiors.

I have feeling a mother, (or father, or some other child care worker), put it there in the hopes that someone else would dispose of it.

I received this from one of my church customers today. She did not specify the condition of the object in question.

Hi!

Sybi just told me that there is a diaper in the piano in the chapel that was muting a couple of keys. She didn’t know whether it was meant to be there but it was interfering with her playing so she put it on top of the piano. Is it to catch moisture and should we put it back?

Just checking…
