zero net downbearing

I am working on a Hallet Davis 6'7". It has 400 stamped on the plate, I
presume that is some sort of model number.

I posted pictures of it a few weeks ago sporting a treble fish on steroids.
There is no thin soundboard under the last octave that I can see. It is a
mammoth fish. When running the scale you can hear where the fish starts or I
should say where the soundboard stops, almost the very note. It has a
sharper attack and rapid decay compared to the non-fish area.

It also has agraffes all the way up and agraffes on the bridges. I was
checking down bearing and I noticed that the agraffes alternated between
tall holes and short holes. This yields positive downbearing on one note and
equally negative downbearing on the next. The soundboard has positive crown,
perhaps 1-2 mm. It appears they were going for zero net downbearing. Fairly
short bridges, too.

I'm having fun taking the cabinet apart (not). The plate is mortised into
the sides and tucked under the stretcher which is mortised into the sides
and glued to the pin block. I'm about there. I've cut out the sides to
expose the plate. Next I'm cutting off the top piece of the stretcher which
is curved to be very wide at the treble end and narrow at the bass end.
