Michael,
Try using a weight lifters type glove, I 've found that it also helps with soreness in the wrist area after alot of tunings and it leaves your fingers free to pick up tolls etc.

Subject: New Topic - Tuning glove

  Hi All

Firstly, thanks for all the great info I'm gleaning for the list, it is a great help. By way of intro, I'm a newbie tech, just graduated from UWO in May just past, and I'm back in Ireland mainly tuning for dealerships just now. I'll be moving to the US next year, so hope to take PTG exams then.

Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with contact dermatitis with a tuning hammer before. I have a "Professional" Watanabe hammer, lever made of rosewood I think, bought from Pianotek. I had no problems during college at all, tuning about 4 hours daily, for 8 months. However, now I've moved up to between 6 and 8 hours tuning daily, and my hand is fairly bad looking after about 4 weeks. I need a long term solution, and was thinking about a thin glove. Anyone have experience with this, any recommendations?

I also don't want to go down the road of by different levers on spec just to test out, as I'd need to try it for a month to see about reactions.

Also, any hints as to why, all of a sudden, there might be a problem with this reaction. I don't know what the finish is, but I did spill a small bit of alcohol on it recently. A very small bit, so I thought it might have worn away by now.

  Many thanks
  Mike Laffan
