Dear Jeannie, Welcome, and thank you for a perfect description of PTG! Best wishes to you for a great career, and hoping to meet you in Grand Rapids next summer, Ruth Phillips, RPT info at alliedpiano.com >>I have my Snake River Chapter RPTs to thank for helping me build the foundation over the years... Jim Osborn's steady dedication, driving 2 1/2 hours to every meeting and sticking to the basics, Bunny Arnett's personal mentorship, helping me get beyond many tough spots in my business, and Joe Goss's coaching, challenging my mind to see problems from different perspectives, resulting in more wholistic and strategic solutions. He held out the rope to help me climb over the top. Then, I had the opportunity to polish my skills with James Coleman, Sr., who made the test another level of learning. ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2008 18:12:20 -0800 From: "David Ilvedson" <ilvey at sbcglobal.net> Subject: Re: [pianotech] Proposed California Sales Tax on Furniture Repair To: pianotech at ptg.org Message-ID: <01AA0C1D0B12120C1434003006 at David> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I think it behooves us to ignore this proposal until someone from the State concretely says to charge the sales tax on piano service... I really feel that someone in CA should probably contact an accountant, CPA, or tax attorney for a somewhat more definitive answer. I always let them know this is the first approach and it probably will take care of the problem, but if not we can talk about other options. In many years, I've had no problems with this approach and have NEVER repinned console/spinet etc... This was actually decided by a court decision specifically for piano taxation issues. Replace a hammer shank - no tax required. Replace a whole set and you must charge the on going sales tax rate.
