For those interested in unequal temperaments: here are the slides I used 
in a lecture on Wednesday evening.  It is an attempt to explain some of 
the most important tuning principles (and the operation of tonality, and 
diatonic scales) with as little math as possible, and without expecting 
the audience to be able to read music.  An interesting challenge.
