If so, another common problem is the damper flange. The tiny loop of plastic that secures the damper spring breaks and there is no repairing it. You may find that the highest treble damper(s) being robbed to replace broken flanges in the mid-range. You can only go so far with this before you eliminate dampers where you really need them.
