Like most everyone else who has responded, I also don't usually work Saturdays or evenings. One question to ask yourself is, "how much would I have to charge to make myself ENJOY working on a Saturday? An extra $50 is enough for me, so that is our policy. The exception to this is showing pianos at my shop. Although it is technically work time, it doesn't exactly feel like it. If I make the sale (at least half of the people who come look, end up buying) then it makes for a great weekend! When I started out, I advertised "Weekend and Evening Appointments Available" in an effort to drum up business by offering this convenience to clients. I was so excited just to be out servicing pianos that it didn't bother me. I was only working part time then so it didn't take away from my family time too much. Once I went to working full-time I started wanting to keep "normal hours".
