David,

QRS makes a retrofittable slow fall mechanism. aka FALLBOARD CLOSER

It is basically a pneumatic pouch which a wire cable attaches to the inside of the fall. Good instructions for installation. Have successfully

installed many of these in old (non-asian) pianos which did not have the slow dfall mechanisms.

Subject: Re: [pianotech] fallboard lock?

Hello List,
Is there any device that would lock the fallboard in open position
on a grand piano. I have a client with 2 year old twins. They want the kids
able to play the keys, but they are afraid of the fall board slamming down on
their fingers.

Thanks,

David Weiss
