[pianotech] How do you ladies do it?

Hi Wim,

I've never found it to be a problem! If, as you mentioned, the springs seem particularly stubborn, I get one started and somewhat wedged in the compressed position and then work the other side until the board can be pulled forward.

At a convention years ago, I was riding the elevator with an older, gentleman tech. Noticing that I was wearing a PTG nametag, he asked if it were difficult for me to carry actions, case parts, etc.. He said his daughter was considering becoming a tech and he was concerned that she would have difficulty in this area. I assured him that I hadn't found a problem. In fact, I was quite accustomed to taking apart player actions, as well. My wing span is just enough and learning to balance parts against the body while moving them helps, too.

BTW, I'm 5'3", somewhere around 115 lbs., and my knuckles are nowhere close to dragging the pavement!

How do you take off the bottom panel when there are 2 springs holding the thing in place? I've got a big wing span, and strong thumbs, but sometimes that's not enough to push up the springs and remove the board at the same time...This is not to imply that this has to do with you ladies being the "weaker" sex, but most of you are not as big as I am and don't have the wing span.
