Everything imaginable. Nothing works permanently and some don't even work
temporarily. Change the parts.

Subject: [pianotech] Dreaded verdigris

List,

A client with a Steinway K mentioned to me that a technician was able to
free up a verdigris infested action with Ronsonal lighter fluid.

I know we have beaten this one to death, but I'd be interested if anyone has
any experience with this stuff.

As best I can tell it is essentially naptha , but the info was not from the
manufacturer .

With advice from all quarters including some of our more illustrious listees
, I've thrown the kitchen sink at this stuff over many years. Protek, Ethel
Benzene ,Hexane- methanol . I have yet to try Ballistal (Sp?) and a heat gun
as suggested here recently.

 Thanks in advance

Tom Driscoll RPT
