The eye we make is typically the English eye as shown below, though we make German eyes and Double German eyes by request and for certain makes that require them. Our regular eye is 45mm to the start of the finishing coils but we make all lengths down to 25mm and up to about 55mm. Compare the evenness and neatness of this with the frightful examples illustrated in your picture, which look as if they have been made by a child. Anybody who makes eyes so badly as that has no right to sell his services as a stringkmaker and I would have no scruples at all about saying so even if I knew who it was. Not only are they very ugly but they are all different lengths and most, if not all, of them are actually pulling round the pin as you apply tension; and the ugly tags are pointing in all directions. >The breakage to which I refer occurred on the right side of the loop >the left as you look at the pic below, past the twist and into the >loop itself about 7-8mm, in all cases, as I was chipping, using an >ETD set to and locked on the note in question. Most broke at the time, some broke overnight. I'm not surprised! Get yourself a stringmaker who knows how to make strings, and demand your money back for the whole set. ><http://www.uscconlinealbum.com/pianoman/mobile-uploads/_entry/29ac32d3e409fe58/jsps/media-view#> > -- ______________________________________________________________________ Delacour Pianos * Silo * Deverel Farm * Milborne St. Andrew Dorset DT11 0HX * England Phone: +44 1202 731031 Mobile: +44 7801 310 689 * Fax: +44 870 705 3241 ______________________________________________________________________ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
