Shameless self promotion:  I'll be presenting a mini-technical in Grand Rapids about using a digital camera, which will include suggestions on how to set things up for good pictures.  I believe there is an article coming up in the Journal about using a camera in our work (hey Alan?).  ;-)

Jon, 

Did you have your camera on a "macro" setting for the close-up you posted?  Marco capability is a very desirable feature in a camera for the kind of detail we so often want to document in our work.
