[pianotech] Scaling vs pitch

You can't realistically do this on site in a tuning appointment. Unless
it's clear that the piano was designed not to go to 440 I wouldn't worry
about it. In a stringing situation you can run the scale numbers with a
program or spreadsheet and determine the % break point at which the piano is
strung for a particular pitch level.

Subject: [pianotech] Scaling vs pitch

In recent posts, several folks have mentioned that the string scaling should
be checked to determine whether a piano can be brought up to 440. Could
someone explain how to do this? Does this require access to one of the scale
design software programs? Thanks.
