Will,

First -- thanks for answering my queries about the details of your piano truck
jacking method. Clear as a bell now.

Quid Pro Quo : I use a Dell Axim. I think they're still available, and
certainly available on eBay. I've been satisfied with it. I ALSO have
installed Tunelab on my "smartphone", an HTC PPC6800 that I got through
Alltel. (I DO have permission to install the software on both)

I prefer the PDA over the phone only because the screen is a little larger and
because it saves the phone battery a bit, though I think I COULD tune and talk
on the phone all day with the smartphone. Worst case scenario, battery wise,
is that I'd be charging with the car charger (12V) between appointments, but I
doubt it would be necessary.

Occasionally my PDA battery has been dead, or I haven't brought it with me or
some such, and I've just used the phone. And I can use the phone on the same
PDA holder (I built my own for about $9.00), because I used velcro on the back
of each device.

Either way is good, but if you've got older, weakening eyes like me, I like
the PDA's larger screen.

To all:

I am getting ready in the next day or so to buy a PDA on which to install
TuneLab and go electronic in my tuning for the first time. I am looking at
the HP IPAQ 111 and the Palm TX, both in the $300 range. I know this has
been covered recently, but I cannot access the archives. Any recommendations
from users of these products on the list – the good, bad, and ugly?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Will Truitt
