Like Joseph, I was wondering if adding weight to the damper heads would allow softer damper springs in the tenor and bass.

  Outstanding compendium of information for us.  Only thing I see absent is a comment on damper mass. I'd love to see your opinion on this and perhaps some additional information on your experience re-dampering older actions in this regard.

  As some have already found, this problem comes from the style of action design combined with the regulation of the action, especially the damper spring tension and damper timing.
