The White Pine trail is the one that goes north from Grand Rapids. But the start of the trail is about 4 miles up Monroe street from the Amway Grand. I called a bike shop in Grand Rapids and they said Monroe Street is the way to go, and it would not be too terrible on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. The White Pine trail is quite new, and paved for the first 22 miles, mostly following the Grand River.
