Hi list, I, too, attended my first national convention/institute. I had been to several of the PNWC regional conventions. I was blown away by this event, as many are. I was a little busy. I was our Chapter's convention delegate, underwent training with Israel Stein to become a technical examiner, assisted with a technical exam and led another technical exam, presented two classes, played in the A440 Big Band on Saturday night, attended other classes as time permitted, blasted through the exhibition hall wishing I had more time to spend there, and was nominated, interviewed, and selected to be next year's intern on the Institute Committee. Additionally, Ed Sutton asked me if I would write something for the Journal about my first national convention experience. WHEW!!! (Ed, if you're reading this, I nominate Rob McCall to write that piece! Did you see his posting from a day or two ago?) My only regret about the conference was this: I didn't get to watch much of the British Open! (I'm a golf nut) But I DID see almost ALL of the playoff in the airport waiting for my flight. All in all, like everybody else here, I had a most WONDERFUL time of it, and am looking forward to serving it next year. I also would like to thank the Institute Committee for a smooth job! Everything I could want or need was accommodated, not being a coffee junkie like some others... (grinning, Ron, I love you!) As a lone technician, nearly, in Helena, Montana, who moves from living room to living room with scarce contact with other people in the industry, this event was a great time for learning, comraderie, starting new friendships, and recharging the batteries. WELL DONE. Let's see you all in Las Vegas!! John Dorr, Helena, MT
