The Steingraeber Phoenix System was the highlight for me, but from talking to a lot of other technicians, I got the impression that it went largely unnoticed, or that people didn't quite grasp what it was all about. I heard others dismiss it because, "Bridge agraffes have been tried before..." (I should point out that many light bulbs were tried before Edison stumbled on to tungsten filaments.) This setup provides clean, consistent bridge terminations that deliver more power and sustain, while freeing the soundboard to vibrate without the attenuation of all that down bearing. You could clearly hear the result from playing those little, big-sounding pianos. If that isn't a development to get excited about, what is? I'm also impressed with WNG's continued developments.
