[pianotech] promo pens

To consider...

I order pencils with the keyboard printed on them from Friendship House. I
place a hole in the corner of my business card with a hole punch and then
thread the pencil into that hole.

The card is propped up with the pencil going through the hole so clients can
see the card and keep the pencil. Kids in the house look forward to my
visit. I try to leave one pencil for each piano player.

It is a neat thing for the kids and it helps fulfill the 11th
commandment."Thou shalt not write on music with pen." J

Hi Ryan,

I can't recall the name of the pen off hand as it's been a few months since
my last order but I believe these were the ones.
http://www.amsterdamprinting.com/Item/Delane+Pen/41226/Default.aspx I
believe the difference of the quality of the pen (more expensive ones) keeps
the quality a bit higher. While I have had a few that haven't clicked
correctly here and there, I've not encountered so far (knock on wood) where
I've had to trash very many with ordering the better quality pens but I do
wait until they have a sale on them before I order a batch. I don't care to
pay $1.99 a piece. If I don't order for a while, I will receive some promo
in the mail eventually.

However, I will check out national pen sometime as Tom mentioned. Always
good to keep an open mind.

Jer

Hey Gerry,

Your pen was one of the nicer ones I've seen. I was checking the website and
was curious what the name of your pen was.

You're welcome Wim! As I'm just home on vacation, this may have been

I figure this way, people will see my name and phone number almost every
time they use my pen. When they do, they will obviously think of me. It is
sort of like a refridgerator magnet but put to better use.

For me, it is more of a gesture of good will and a thank you more than
anything else and of course, it is a form of advertisement as well but
either way, people appreciate handouts. Especially something they can use.

This is where I get mine. http://www.amsterdamprinting.com/ Every now and
then, they inform me of a sale on the pens I gave you for about 70 cents a
piece give or take.

At the convention, Jerry Groot gave me a pen with his name, etc. on it.
(Thanks Jerry, nice looking pen). Randy Potter gives them out, too.

I, as I am sure others, have been approached many times by pen salesmen who
want you to buy them for customers. I've always resisted. (One guy told me
he "accidentally" printed 1000 pens with my name on it, and he would have to
throw them out if I didn't buy them. When I told him he misspelled my name,
he didn't hesitate one second and said he could change it, at no extra
charge).

For those of you who give them out, what is your return of investment? Do
you actually get calls from people who saw your name on the pen? Or do you
just do it for good will, like buying an add in the high school chorus
concert program.

Wim
