I think it's quite reasonable, whatever the stand of a certain famousmaker with a different opinion reflecting field performance of their pianos. It depends on the usual known but selectively ignored parameters. Given a performance derived (rather than manufacturer spec) hammer tail length, hammer tail contour, backcheck angle, checking height, repetition spring strength, and rep lever center friction, in roughly that order, there's no particular mechanical reason that hammers shouldn't check reliably in those ranges. But I'm just a mechanic. This probably needs an expert. Ron N
