Developing a hammer lever technique for these pianos will make a bigger difference. Please do not read this as "your hammer technique stinks." Different pianos require different techniques. You might want to check out Different Strokes - Hammer Techniques for Piano Technicians by Ken Burton, RPT. It is available from Randy Potter, see pianotuning.com/products/books.htm. Ken looks at 24 different techniques. You don't need all of them in your repertoire, but several are for pianos like you describe.
