[pianotech] Yamaha sampling ... was only pure

Gawd I hope not !... :) FTR... good tuners over here are usually very
very good. If there is any tendency I've noticed through the years
America vs Europe it has to do with unisons. Europeans nearly without
exception go for crystal clear and clean unisons... where as there has
been some debate as to whether or not a very very slight out of tuneness
is appropriate or not stateside. That has to do with the string
coupling discussion.

FWIW... Yamaha makes an S6 and an S4 currently I believe. When I was at
Hamamatsu I asked a couple of their engineers why they didnt make an S7
as their S series is a very nice piano and that 7 size would compare
favorably with the Steinway C model from Hamburg. They said they didn't
think they could sell that size.

Cheers

One of the sounds on my Yamaha Motif synth/keyboard has a Yamaha S7
(I think that's the model #). The treble on the piano that was
recorded is so badly uned that I just can't play it. It is nasty
sounding in the treble. I've thought to record some octaves and
post it here, but haven't taken time to do that yet. So I was
wondering if that might be the type of tuning that is done outside
    the States.

Hope this didnt get too long... but you put a lot of things on
        the table for comment :)

    Thanks, Ric.
