I'm sure I'll get a IV and it will be nice to have a III for a backup. The IV is still very light, right?

Hi, Terry:
I attended the recent convention in Burbank where the new units were presented in a class setting. I own a SAT I, which I 've used for 21 years. The SAT IV is programmable and upgradable via USB. In class, each new feature was demonstrated. It appears that the unit takes a new software based approach. The older units do have some customization possible, but you have to send it back to them to have any updates done. Now with this new one, the user can do it over the internet. There are some upgraded functions and many customizable options, though the basic technology and readouts are the same (FAC calculations, etc.) If you look on the website, I'm sure there will be comparison to the other versions. Of course, there's the "hardbody" case, which makes it bulletproof in your tool case. No, I didn't purchase the unit, so I can't comment there. As usual, it appears to be a long term investment in a very rugged high quality unit.
Upside is you can probably get a used/refurbished SAT III for less, now that the new SAT IV is out.
    FWIW.
