It's clear from all the very intneresting and illuminating conntributions on this topic, that most people who use the expression 'perfect pitch' have only a very nebulous sense of what it is that they mean. It's clear also that the initial Wikipedia 'definition' really isn't one at all, as it is not allied to a 'statement of standard' - a desgree of acccuracy that is required in order to be labeled 'perfect'. Thus, we are back to saying to the person who claims 'perfect pitch', "Oh, that's interesting. What is it that you mean by that?" They won't give an answer in terms of accurate measurement, because they don't even know themselves what they mean. As it is commonly used (or misused), then, the expression 'perfect pitch' is something of a meaningless myth, like the clock that is "overwound". Best, David.
