[pianotech] Hammer Line Issue

Todd:

I won’t get into what might have caused the problem. But let me
suggest another way to give temporary relief to the symptom. Rather
than loosening the action brackets and swinging them out, you can use
some felt to shim the rest rail a little closer to the strings. There
is a time and place for every repair.

Most uprights should have some lost motion, but if I remember right,
Kawaii recommends that the jacks actually push the hammer butt a
little when the jack resets. I don’t adjust the capstans that way
myself…
