[pianotech] Modified L Scale with 5 note transition

Very nice, David.

What kinds of things did you do in the plain wire in the treble past the
transistor bridge to smooth out the tension, Z, and inharmonicity? Did you
play with the speaking lengths as part of your strategy?

And this is yet another version that I’m playing with that is more in
keeping with the original Steinway bass section balance yet smoothing the
transition between tenor and bass and upping the tension at the top of the
treble bridge to try and gain a bit more strength at the top. I know you
don’t’ have the absolute numbers but you get the idea. You can have fun
with this stuff forever but at some point you have to put it on the piano
and see what happens.

I’ve put them both here so you can see a side by side comparison.

David,

That looks like it will be a pretty good modification. Any
chance that we could see the “before” scale for comparison?
