For aggressive felt removal, in situ, a metal carbide sanding paddle (pianotek)
works fast. The Wahl puts a nice finish on without a lot of strokes.

The only downside might be the tool vibrating in your hand. When I first
used it, I needed to encase it in a piece of pipe insulation. Now I'm
used to it.
I wouldn't say that it does a faster job, just less effort.

The minibelt sander seemed a little too aggressive for my liking. I can see me
honing down a hammer to nothing...fast.
