On the other hand, I'd say better too much than too little. Messages
sometimes come through with *everything* trimmed out, so no context for the
comments. As usual, somewhere in the middle would probably work best so
emphasis on "extraneous".

Zoe,
Ain't my problem, but thanks anyway. It's not an excess 
characters thing, but a failure of the sender to trim 
extraneous text from the reply.

An extremely common thing.
