[pianotech] Gated Comminities Or (new subject heading)

Les, How dare I change the subject! How many times do I read about a subject on this site, and see it change to something entirely different. My comments were my 'personal frustration' with 'compromising', which you however seem to be able to put forward.
Perhaps I have struck a nerve here, with someone who does not like to hear the truth about this world we live in.
I might be better off to just cancel my involvement with the PTG site,as I may offend.
Give me a break, in fact I will take one.
David Lawson

The original issue was my personal frustration with gated communities- it had absolutely nothing to do with international politics. If you are going to discuss such, PLEASE change the subject heading. I suspect there are better forums (like private) for such discussions.(Doesn't here show much about humble opinion either- which likewise was not part of the original thread) thank you

  Mr. David Lawson, et al.,

I have always been an American, and have always lived here in America. I have thought of Australia as a good place, and good friend of the US, with good people. I have seen several email of late regarding your comments about if you don't like "OUR" (Australian) point of view, you are free to go back to from where you came, or just to leave and try somewhere else, and I must say you are absolutely RIGHT. You are kind and generous enough to allow someone to move into you home, and they want to change it. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. This should still be the rule of the day.

As I see America and the EU Nations, led by the UN, trying to make everybody happy; we are giving up our culture. America was built on a mix of people immigrating here, and now we have some backwards groups trying to make us change to their failed culture. It is not good for America, Canada, or EU, and everyone knows it. We have become so PC that most people are not willing to say it, and put their foot down like Australia has. In my humble opinion, please don't ever stop doing what you are doing and saying. Australia is for Australian's! Move there and become an Australian, or stay where you are, and be what ever you are...PERIOD!

Take care David, and good luck,

I would like to put in my two penneth and give you my reasoning on this subject from the 'Down Under' point of view.
I like to think that we in Australian live in our own Gated Community, our gate being the sea that surrounds our wonderful country. We can be accused of jealously guarding it from outsiders, who wish to infiltrate our life style and try and change it to suit their own agendas.
  And why should we not?
The comment made about compromise is an interesting one. How do you compromise with people who don't want to listen or adapt to the way we live, when it is them that have chosen to come to a country,'for a better life'. They refuse to compromise and demand that we do it their way.
We are being told by the 'do gooders', and quite often from other countries, that we are not even permitted to make comments like, 'If you don't like it here then go back to whence you came'.
Why should we have to cow tow to those rules when we have a very enviable life style, which we are very willing to share with anyone who is prepared to blend in and be part of our community. It is a free country, and we can say what we think, well we used to be able to.
Those living in gated communities must feel like they are in a fortress, and this is the only way they can feel safe. My god, what is happening to the world?
Like everyone I know, we have rules in our home that we expect visitors to abide by. What is the difference in a whole country?
We have been very fortunate to have not suffered the economic down turn that you have in the US. We can still service and sell pianos to most people who require one. That is of course for prices that will fit most pockets. Pianos rule still and will for ever give pleasure to most people, in tune or out!
This is a wonderful place to live, but not for those who wish to change it for what ever reason.
  David Lawson.
