Steven, All good advice so far. I see a lot of both Yamaha and Kawai pianos here. >From a quality of construction perspective, I don't think I could give an edge to either. Neither would I pick a winner in customer service - my experience has been excellent with both. In general, Yamahas seem to come prepped brighter, Kawai's mellower, but, who knows. If the choice really is Yamaha or Kawai, they must play both and see which one really speaks to them. William R.
