[pianotech] Some rebuilding videos

He wrote that he lubricated the bridle straps, so I believe it´s not just removing dust. As mentioned, I will ask him. He left Austria for a 4 week Germany tuning/repairing tour and visited me on Sunday, but I think he is not online for that time.

Concerning the keyboard: he uses a standard polish for keytops as available at piano supply stores (hard, not viscous). The trick is that he uses an orbirtal sander which has no high speed and therefore produces not too much heat. He uses a felt mounted on that sander and lubricates that felt with spiritus.

I think he just use a brush to remove dust. But what about
the products used for the keyboard?

Scott,

no idea, but I will ask Michael who made the video.
Unfortunately he is on tour for a few weeks, so his answer may come somewhat
delayed. I assume it´s something that makes the leather smooth again so that
they don´t break. Perhaps something with
oil?

Hi Gregor,

On the 4th video, about 44
seconds into it, what is the solution that's being brushed onto the Bridal
Straps?

  List,

a collegue from Austria made some nice videos of
the rebuilding of a Steingräber & Söhne upright, 150 cm high. He asked me
and some others to translate the German description into English so that they
can be found better on Youtube by English speakers. He is no contributor of
this list because his English is even worse than mine.

Here they
