I apologies, I thought I was thicker skinned than that, to have taken
offense. :-)
Best regards,

Hmmm, I think I have given offence. I wasn't my intention and I've done
it by accident through being in a hurry.

Here's what happened.

I had a whole load of pianotech mailings waiting to be read and I read
quickly through them all, mentally noting the comments that had been
made about overdamper pianos *without noting down who had said what*.

On this list, there are persons new or newish to overdamper pianos, and
persons who have not used the Papps wedge. You are not one of them,
John. Had I noted carefully who had made which points, I should have
been more careful not to make comments from which any slur could be
inferred.

I apologise.

D.

It may not be necessary for you.
But it is for me, as I like to make my job, as easy as I can.
Of course you can do it by 'feel', and I have, but for me more light makes
it easier.
I use a 18v fluorescent that came with my DeWalt cordless drill.
I think you were inferring, that I didn't know how to use a Papps Mute as
well as you do.
I hope you weren't.
