Paul, You are exactly correct about the damper barrels- block being a tight fit over the pins in the pickup fingers. Drilling works, but I had some leftover damper blocks from a Steinway upright action rebuild and the holes are bigger. I have a few in my little spare parts kit just for the Acro task. The rubber mute idea that Jon has mentioned works quite well also ---just not this last time for me. Tom D. Subject: [pianotech] Acro guide rail fixed I carry a handful of damper barrels/screws in a film canister in my supply box in my car. Damper blocks don't always slide over the pick-up fingers well. To be on the safe side I drill out the holes in the barrels. A couple for each rail section will do. Paul E. Dempsey, RPT
